all set!
For December I will be going to Barcelona for a drawing project and a residency.
I haven’t been to Barcelona for years so it will be a lovely adventure PLUS getting time to only focus on the drawing for a while and get stuck right in there with the project :)
The studio and flat is located just by the lovely Parc Guell where I can have early morning walks before getting into the studio ARWW can’t wait….
Today the second of the participants of the project is in the space working away and it looks very exciting so far! Details about the various artists and possibility to view the collaborative creation will be possible on Sunday 29th.
See below for project info:
Once Upon A Space- A Rhizomatic Exchange
In residence from 20th to 29th August
Event on Sunday 29th August, 4 – 6pm
For her residency at 25sg Helen Edling has invited 7 artists and writers to take part in a collaborative experimental exchange project.
The project is loosely based on the idea of the Rhizome where a story/micro-universe will be created over a period of 10 days through exchanges between the participants. A picture made by Helen functions as the starting point of the story after which, via words, images and connection points created by the participants, the project will evolve. Continuous non-hierarchical entries and exit points will allow for multiple interpretations and readings with Helen’s drawings in response being the link between the participants.
The result of the project and the identity of the participating artists will be revealed on Sunday the 29th where the project will be open for viewing and discussion.
All events are free and refreshments will be available. Guests are
welcome to bring food and drink to share.

Berwick Old Town Hall and Prison Cells, animation by artists Helen Edling and Sarah Tulloch
Swedish Artist Helen Edling and Newcastle University Graduate Sarah Tulloch’s new collaborative project centers around the Berwick Old Town Hall and Prison Cells and will be showcased as part of the Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival in September 2010. They are using the 16th century wall drawings made by previous inmates as a starting point for their own intervention in one of the cells. The artists will create animations using a combination of drawing, collage and objects associated with the gaol and its’ ex-inhabitants. The animations will show the space ‘performing’, creating a constant push and pull between the real and the imaginary, presence and absence.
